Get the best out of your Rise & Recline Chair

A rise and recline chair for some is seen and an integral part of  their home, but often can be a big expensive, but one which can provide a lot of comfort for many years for the users.

Arm covers are available on most chairs which is a good idea to save wear and tear, or you could even go for a design which has wooden ends or ‘knuckles’ which the user can grab hold onto off to provide better balance. Darker colours and patterns help to prolong the life of the material at it does not show up marks and stains as much or you could go for a leather chair, but some users feel that they slide too much meaning that they feel unsafe.

Theses style of chairs are designed to raise the seat to a level in which the user feels comfortable to be able to move away, once the person has moved away don’t lower the seat down because this will make it easier for the user to get back into it and not have to throw themselves down into the chair which could hurt and even damage the chair.

On some chairs like our Sherborne range, they come with a battery backup located within the transformer which provide enough power to the raise the seat and get the user out encase of a power cut, it is advised that you change these batteries once a year.

In your chair has a recliner function then don’t have it close to a wall as it will push against it and move the chair away, this will put more strain on the motor and could even brake it. Along the same line don’t put anything in the way or under the leg raiser as this again will put more strain on the motor and could even brake the frame of the chairs.

If you do use an additional cushion then please take extra care when reclining the back rest up and down encase it gets stuck in the fold of the chair.

When purchasing a rise and recline chair have a good look what is available and what you can afford and how long the warranty is, because on some cheap chairs the warranty in only 12 months so if anything breaks after that you will need to pay for it, but some manufacturer build chairs with 5year warrantee but these are often more expensive.
