About us
1st Step Mobility is an established retailer, supplying Mobility Scooters, wheelchairs and a massive range of home and healthcare products throughout Essex, London and the South East of England. Formed in 2007, 1st Step Mobility offers a comprehensive range of products available to the community, residential care and nursing homes.
We are a leading supplier of Stairlifts and are authorised dealers for Acorn Stairlifts, Stannah Stairlifts and Brooks Stairlifts and offer a free survey and fast installations. We are also leading supplier for the Motability scheme in Essex, Kent and London.

Our showrooms
1st Step Mobility’s mobility showrooms cover a large area with locations currently in Romford (head office), Bow, Barkingside and Erith. Our satisfied customers come from Essex, Kent, London and beyond. You will always receive a friendly welcome at our showrooms, where our helpful and courteous staff do their best to ensure that you receive the best possible advice on any mobility or healthcare product.
We are an approved supplier with most of the major supplier of mobility products in the UK, including a Stannah stairlifts partnership. We provide a wide range of products to suit most customers’ specific needs: Stairlifts, electric mobility scooters, manual and electric wheelchairs, adjustable profiling beds and specialist homecare, hospital-style beds, riser/recliner armchairs, walking frames and bathlifts. In addition to these products, we also have a range of moving and handling equipment, public access accessories (such as wheelchair ramps), public access lifts and platform lifts. We also offer great value on used and reconditioned items at low prices (subject to availability). Also available from 1st Step Mobility is a large range of homecare, bathing, toileting, incontinence products and aids to help with every day living.
Motability Scheme
At 1st Step Mobility, you can have your Scooter or Powerchair through Motability. The Motability Scheme enables disabled people to exchange either their Higher Rate Mobility Component of Disability Living Allowance (DLA), Personal Independence Payment (PIP) or their War Pensioners’ Mobility Supplement to obtain a new powered wheelchair or scooter of their choice. London Olympics 2012
1st Step Mobility was one of two UK companies awarded a contract to supply loan mobility equipment for visitors to use at the 2012London Olympics. Our part was to supply around 250 wheelchairs and 120 scooters to 14 different venues in and around London. We were very proud of this achievement and it was a result of a lot of hard work and dedication to meet the standards required to become a games supplier.
